Number of domestic air passengers carried on local routes in Japan 2014-2023

In 2023, airlines in Japan carried around 59.51 million domestic passengers on local routes, up from about 44.9 million passengers in the previous year. Domestic air passenger transportation in Japan is dominated by the two major airlines Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, as well as their respective subsidiaries.
