Seated Metrodorus at The Louvre, Paris

This sculpture appears to be an adaption of a portrait of a seated Socrates, familiarised by other replica sculptures and frescos by the painter Éphese. Attributed to Lypsippe (circa 370-300 BC) the lost original which these copies are inspired by. This variant can serve as a model of the epic philosopher Metrodorus (330-277 BC). It was sculpted in Rome. This object is part of Scan The World.
