Abundance and Distribution of Plant Species Using Quadrat Method at York University Stong Pond

A group of three students (Rosalie, Andrew and Sandra) analyzed the grassland habitat (Stong Pond) at York University for the abundance and distribution of plants. The weather conditions on September 21, 2015 at around 3:00 pm was clear, sunny with slight winds and no precipitation at a high temperature of 23° Celsius. A 1-meter by 1-meter quadrat was randomly placed on the ground by continually taking a total of 5 steps between each sample dataset for an overall of 25 replications. Data that was collected within the 1-meter by 1-meter quadrat included; a total count of individual plants, total number of different plant species, total percent cover of vegetation and total percent cover of grasses.
