Testudo graeca and A. gigantea show similar rates of retroelements as DNA transposons over the genome, while the G. agassizii masked region results in a greater presence of retroelements, but fewer DNA transposons. We note that the G. agassizii study only ran RepeatModeler on unmasked regions, while the T. graeca and A. gigantea studies cover the whole genome. Unreported statistics are indicated as ‘NA’.
