To date, numerous genetic studies related to this hybrid have been conducted. For example, using transcriptome analysis, Sun et al. (2016) has revealed the molecular mechanisms underlying its growth superiority, while Mo et al. (2021) reported the innate immune mechanisms contributing to its strong parasite-resistance. Liang et al. (2023) further analysed the genetic diversity and genetic structure of this hybrid using microsatellite markers. Nevertheless, to date, no information is available on the whole genome of this hybrid. Whole-genome knowledge Is essential as it can provide fundamental genomic information to support further genetic studies. Therefore, this study aims to generate and characterize the whole genome of Epinephelus fuscoguttatus x Epinephelus lanceolatus.
