Anisotropic thermomechanical properties of organic shales

This laboratory study aims to thoroughly discuss the combined effects of temperature and pressure on dynamic and static mechanical properties of anisotropic shales by performing a suite of triaxial tests at confining pressures varying from 5 MPa to 45 MPa and temperatures ranging from 25 ℃ to 105 ℃. The experiments are carried out on two pairs of organic shales, in both of the bedding-normal and bedding-parallel directions, to investigate the coupling effects of temperature and pressure on shale anisotropy evolutions.
