Rosseironne Statue-Menhir of a Male Figure

This statue-menhir originally comes from the French department of Gard (South of France) where it was found in a plain associated with a neolithic environment. If you pay close attention, you may be able to distinguish the eyes and facial T of the arch of the eyebrow stay, but also the outline of the face framed, two arms wih their hands, the sides lined with folds of clothes (on the edge of the stone). The making of this statue-menhir could be meant as an act of gratitude towards a chieftain. Statue-menhirs were mostly linked to funeral rites and collective tomns, which they were the guardians of.本雕像式竖石碑（statue-menhir）最初出土于法国南部加尔省的一处新石器时代平原遗存地带。经细致观察，可辨识出眼部轮廓、眉弓构成的面部T形结构，以及清晰勾勒的脸部外形、双臂与双手；石身侧边（沿石材边缘处）还饰有衣物褶皱纹样。该雕像式竖石碑的制作初衷或是为向某位部落首领表达感恩之情。这类雕像式竖石碑大多与丧葬仪式及集体墓葬相关，承担着守护墓葬的职能。
