Cisplatin is one of the most potential and widely used drugs for oral cancer chemotherapy. However, although cisplatin resistance occurs frequently, it is difficult to predict the therapeutic efficacy before clinical trial. We tried to predict cisplatin resistance by comparing the gene expression pattern between cisplatin-sensitive UMSCC1 cells and paired cisplatin-resistant UM-Cis cells. To analyze the difference in gene expression levels between UMSCC1 and UM-Cis cells, microarray analysis was attempted on a total of 6 samples with each cell line in triplicate using the Affymetrix GeneChip® Human Gene 2.0 ST array (Affymetrix Inc., Santa Clara, CA, US) containing 40,716 gene-level probe set.
