Genome sequence of the multi-drug resistant extra-intestinal pathogenic (ExPEC) Escherichia coli UR40 (ST131) encoding the bla(CTX-M-15) gene identified on plasmids belonging to the IncF group. This new ST131 variant (described for the first time in 2010), isolated from a human patient with urinary-tract infection (UTI) in Rome, Italy, is of particular concern because it combines fluoroquinolone and extended-spectrum cephalosporin resistance.
