Bronchoalveolar lavage samples from idiopathic pneumonia syndrome patients and controls

Following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, some patients develop idiopathic pneumonia syndrome while others do not. In this study bronchoalveolar lavage samples from 36 transplant recipients (18 IPS subjects, 12 non-IPS control subjects, and six subjects excluded from either group due to receipt of autologous HCT or clinical evidence of viral pneumonia) were sequenced and submitted to metagenomic analysis in conjunction with previously-submitted bronchoscope prewash samples (PRJNA392272). Taxa significantly enriched in the case versus control samples were identified.
