The Virgin with the Child

This sculpture is a carved painted and gilded poplar Madonna. A Madonna is a representation of Mary, either alone or with her child Jesus. The relief depicts the Virgin holding the Child torso-portrait. Jesus is depicted doing a benediction (blessing) gesture with his right hand.本件雕塑为一件经雕刻、上色并贴金的杨木圣母像（Madonna）。圣母像是指以圣母玛利亚为主体的艺术形象，可单独呈现圣母玛利亚，亦可呈现圣母与圣子耶稣同框的画面。该浮雕刻画了圣母怀抱圣子的躯干肖像，其中耶稣以右手做出祝福（benediction）手势。
