The Vitis vinifera clonal variants 'Pinot noir' (PN) and 'Pinot Noir Precoce' (PNP) flower at the same time, but for PNP the beginning of berry ripening (véraison) and consequently harvest time are clearly shifted to earlier times by several weeks. Apart from the genotype, seasonal climatic conditions also affect ripening times. To reveal possible ripening regulating genes affecting a delay or an early start of ripening, differences in gene expression profiles between PN and PNP during berry development and ripening were investigated by measuring inflorescences and berries, respectively. RNA-Seq was carried out with close meshed time series during 2014 and 2017.
