The impact of a strawberry-based intervention on the gut microbiome was investigated in a cohort of 69 healthy elderly German adults. Over a 10-week randomized controlled trial, participants were assigned to one of five groups and consumed varying quantities of fresh strawberries, freeze-dried strawberries, or capers in olive oil.
