The Francis Joseph Bayldon Collection: Melanesia, late 19th – early 20th centuries

In 1949 Captain Bayldon (1872-1948) donated a collection of 264 Pacific island artefacts to the Australian Museum. They were from Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the New Hebrides, New Caledonia and Fiji. The collection comprised a range of items including clubs, paddles, shields, spears and dishes.1949年，贝尔顿船长（1872-1948）向澳大利亚博物馆捐赠了264件太平洋岛屿文物藏品。这批文物源自巴布亚新几内亚、所罗门群岛、新赫布里底群岛、新喀里多尼亚与斐济，涵盖棍棒、船桨、盾牌、长矛及餐具等各类器物。
