Good data quality. Data collected on site by steel industry experts in accordance with the worldsteel methodology and ISO 14040 standards, and consistency-checked by worldsteel LCA-experts. DEAM database used for upstream electricity data. DEAM data modified by worldsteel for iron ore by direct contact with 4 iron ore mining companies. Global coke production was based on wordsteel site specific data, for 28 coke making plants. An update of the data is being carried out in 2007/2008.

Technical Purpose: The various types of hot rolled steel have applications in virtually all sectors of industry: transport, construction, shipbuilding,
gas containers, pressure vessels, energy pipelines, etc. Hot rolled steel coil with an anti-slip surface and a diamond or teardrop pattern are typically used for stairs,
industrial floors and tailboards for goods vehicles.
