Mutation clusters in Bacillus subtilis

The rationale for the project is to see how universal the phenomenon is, or it is confined to E.coli only (Parkhomchuk et al., 2009). Accordingly, we need to take at least one species of gram positive bacteria, e.g. Bacillus subtilis, simply because it is very well studied. Using ethyl methanesulfonate as a DNA mutagenizing agent multiple clonal isolates of B. subtilis were sequenced.
