Transcriptomic profiling of Nicotiana benthamiana leaves infiltrated with Agrobacterium

Nicotiana benthamiana is a plant chassis for heterologous production of medicinal plant natural products. We have performed RNA sequencing of Nicotiana benthamiana leaves expressing an empty vector, GFP, biosynthetic enzymes for etoposide aglycone production, as well as wildtype leaves. This transcriptomic data set coupled with metabolite profiling allowed study of changes to endogenous metabolic processes affecting heterologous biosynthesis in the plant chassis.
