"Pig and sheep spinal cord nerve fibers electromagnetic properties in the terahertz range (0.2\u20133 THz) under stimulation by an external DC voltage, using Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy (THz-TDS, Menlo Systems Tera K15). When transverse electric field above a threshold value of 5 V\/mm is applied to the sample under study, resonant absorption peaks and a substantial increase in the amplitudes of high-frequency spectral components are observed in the spectrum of the THz pulse passing through the spinal cord sample over time. The results of these studies may be useful for a complete understanding of the information exchange mechanism in a living organism."
