资源简介:
In measurements under uniaxial stress, we have identified a new transition in the triangular antiferromagnet PdCrO2 at which the sample length shrinks abruptly by 0.15%. The magnetic order of unstressed PdCrO2 is 120-degree antiferromagnetism, and in previous beamtimes we observed the propagation vectors to shift as uniaxial stress was applied to distort the triangular lattice. We hypothesise that this new transition is a spin-spiral-to-Néel transition. The goal of this beamtime proposal is to test this hypothesis. The spin-spiral-to-Néel transition that we hypothesise was predicted in 1959 to occur when a triangular lattice is distorted to become more square, but it has not yet been observed.
