Plant species records by quadrat/ releve in Ireland in calcareous grassland, Molinia meadow, blanket bog, raised bog and wet heath habitats.

May - October 2021 - 2023. Sites were selected to cover a nitrogen deposition gradient and for presence of one or more of the target habitats, as defined by Annex I of the EU Habitats Directive: calcareous grassland, Molinia meadows, raised bog, blanket bog and wet heath. 5 quadrats were randomly placed within the habitat on the site. Some observations are repeat visits in different years to quadrats (co-ordinates within 10 metres) or sites (different quadrats used). Most sites were designated Special Areas of Conservation. A 2 metre by 2 metre quadrat was marked out. Percent cover of broad ground cover types was made. An exhaustive search was made for all plant species inside the quadrat, including bryophytes. Percent cover of each species was estimated and then compared to broad categories and adjusted until they matched. Data was entered into Turboveg software, so some data fields are inherited from that. Species were from a list within the software agreed for Ireland with the National Biodiversity Data Centre, from 2008.
