Standard Curve: Over-nigth S<i>accharomyces</i> <i>cerevisiae</i> S288C cultures were inocullated into fresh YPD media at 30<sup>o</sup>C and monitored (optical density (OD), 600 nm in SpectraMax iD3) for 24h.Atypical Curves: Growth curves were obtained during our previous experiments (Opalek et al. 2022).They were acquired by growing <i>Saccharomyces</i> <i>cerevisiae</i> S288C cultures in rich YPD media at 30<sup>o</sup>C. The populations were starved in various conditions before the re-growth procedure (see details in Opalek et al. 2022). The populations’ densities were monitored by absorbance measurements (optical density (OD), 600 nm in SpectraMax iD3) taken every half an hour. No-lag Curve: Laboratory strain BY Mat a (BY4741) was thawed from -70oC and inoculated into rich YPD medium for 48h. To obtain fresh overnight culture, 10 µl were then inoculated into 1 ml of fresh YPD medium. After 24h, 300 µl of the overnight culture was inoculated into 700 µl of YPD medium for 3 hours. Subsequently, 20 µl inoculum was transferred to 200 µl of YPD in a 96-well plate in 4 repetitions and the OD measurements (λ = 600 nm, SpectraMax iD3 multimode microplate reader) were taken every 5 minutes.<br>The biomass was calculated according to the equations (Opalek et al 2022):<br>For OD measurements below 0.1:<br>10^(1.885845 + 28.72096*OD)For OD measurement equal or above 0.1<br>3566518*OD + 26754296*OD^2 -19881567*OD^3
