Hypothesis: There is a correlation with the number of insects caught and the colour of the pan trap that has been laid out. Method: The Pan Trap data was collected by placing down 3 different coloured pans: blue, yellow, and white. The pans were laid out in bundles of three, all spread out at random throughout the grassland area.This was repeated 6 times to get a total of 18 individual pans. They were all filled with about 5ml of warm soapy water to attract different sets of insects. The transact that was provided was laid out next to the pans and the distance in relative to the transect was measured. For example the first pan trap of the 3 was at the 1.5 meter mark on the transact. The pan traps were then observed 1.25 hours later. The number of insects that were caught in the pan trap was then recorded. Predictions: 1: The closer the pan traps are to each other the less insects will be caught 2: the blue pan or yellow pan trap may catch more insects and bugs due to its vibrant colours and the attraction that insects or bugs have to vibrant colours. 3: Blue will attract more ants and terrestrial insects while yellow will attract more of the pollinators
