This dataset presents a comprehensive spatial analysis of urban greenness (NDVI) and built-up density (NDBI) across the Chennai metropolitan region for the year 2025.The data has been processed from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery using 10-meter resolution bands, ensuring a detailed and accurate representation of vegetation cover and urban expansion patterns. The dataset forms part of I Hug Trees’ ongoing research initiative on urban environmental health, which combines satellite-based indices with open geospatial methods to monitor changes in city ecosystems. Processing details:Data was subset and analyzed for the Chennai region using Sentinel-2 Level-2A products (10m resolution).
