The Painter-Restorers of the Art Collection of King Ferdinand II of Portugal

This dataset contains records of payments made by King Ferdinand II of Portugal to painter-restorers for the conservation and restoration of paintings from his private and royal collection, from 1850 to 1864. It is an exploratory research based on a case study spanning 15 years, the date range having being determined based upon an archival document named "Restauração de Quadros" ["Restoration of Pictures"] (see Sources, below), that encompasses payments made for the restoration of a total of 98 pictures, from June 16, 1850, to November 19, 1864 (IDs 40-137 in the Dataset spreadsheet). Besides, it contains a number of other payments made before the start and end dates of the document, that are helpful to better understand the topic under scope, as well as to show the potential of further research in the field.
