Identifying acquired resistant mechanisms in carbapenem-resistant bacterial isolates.

Infections with carbapenem-resistant organism (CROs) are a serious threat to public health due to decreased treatment options and increased mortality rates. We are using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) combined with bioinformatics analysis to identify mechanisms of carbapenem resistance in isolates received in New York State.
