Chemical analyses of manganese rich samples from the Paul Revere Deep in the northeastern Pacific Ocean

Samples have been crushed and air dried at 110°C.
From 1983 until 1989 NOAA-NCEI compiled the NOAA-MMS Marine Minerals Geochemical Database from journal articles, technical reports and unpublished sources from other institutions. At the time it was the most extended data compilation on ferromanganese deposits world wide. Initially published in a proprietary format incompatible with present day standards it was jointly decided by AWI and NOAA to transcribe this legacy data into PANGAEA. This transfer is augmented by a careful checking of the original sources when available and the encoding of ancillary information (sample description, method of analysis..) not present in the NOAA-MMS database.

1983年至1989年，NOAA-NCEI从期刊论文、技术报告及其他机构的未公开资料中，汇编得到NOAA-MMS海洋矿物地球化学数据库。彼时，该数据库是全球覆盖范围最广的铁锰沉积数据汇编成果。该数据库最初以与现行标准不兼容的专有格式发布，后由AWI与NOAA共同商定，将这批遗留数据转录至PANGAEA平台。本次数据迁移还补充了两项工作：若可获取原始资料，则对其进行严谨核查；同时补全NOAA-MMS数据库未收录的辅助信息（如样品描述、分析方法等）。
