Corals of Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea (Marine RAP survey I)

In 1997, 53 sites in Milne Bay Province were assessed during the Marine RAP survey. Sites surveyed included a diverse range of habitats. The survey method consisted of direct underwater observation of corals along transects using SCUBA. The aims of this component of the survey were:1. to compile an inventory of corals on the reefs of Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea and2. to compare the results with inventories from other regions of Papua New Guinea and neighbouring countries. The Marine Rapid Assessment Program (RAP) is an initiative of Conservation International (CI). Surveys were carried out in collaboration with the Milne Bay Provincial Government.

1997年，研究团队在巴布亚新几内亚（Papua New Guinea）米尔恩湾省（Milne Bay Province）开展了海洋快速评估计划（Marine Rapid Assessment Program，简称RAP）调查，共对53个点位完成评估。
本次调查覆盖的点位涵盖多样的栖息生境。
调查方法为借助水肺潜水（SCUBA），沿样带对珊瑚开展直接水下观测。
本次调查子模块的目标为：
1. 编制巴布亚新几内亚米尔恩湾省礁体海域的珊瑚物种名录；
2. 将本次调查结果与巴布亚新几内亚其他区域及周边国家的珊瑚物种名录进行对比。
海洋快速评估计划（RAP）是保护国际（Conservation International，简称CI）发起的专项项目，本次调查由米尔恩湾省政府协同开展。
