English This collection provides a selection of machine-readable primary sources that document the imperial expansion of the United States (ca. 1880-1940) from a variety of perspectives. The dataset contains XML files ready to be operationalized (e.g., in Voyant Tool) for both word-level analyses and visualizations of topical foci and discursive patterns that supported or resisted imperial projects in the Caribbean and Pacific. The collection covers works of literature, poetry, diaries, epistolary correspondence, brochures, and advertising materials.
