This study seeks to utilize wheat straw as a solid-phase carbon source for denitrification, in conjunction with sulfur, to establish a column for autotrophic-heterotrophic cooperative denitrification. By monitoring nitrogen and sulfur transformations along the column under varying filling ratios, hydraulic shocks, and nitrate loads, the nitrate removal mechanism will be comprehensively analyzed. Furthermore, the investigation will delve into the evolution of the microbial community structure along the column to elucidate the interaction and regulatory mechanism of autotrophic and heterotrophic microorganisms. Ultimately, this study aims to uncover the microscopic mechanism of autotrophic-heterotrophic cooperative denitrification, offering innovative perspectives on utilizing agricultural and forestry wastes for groundwater nitrate pollution remediation and advancing the autotrophic-heterotrophic cooperative denitrification process.
