As of December 2023, there were 2,658 charging locations in Thailand, with a total of 9,694 charging units. The leading provider was EV Station Pluz with 705 locations, followed by Energy Absolute with 538 locations and PEA Volta on the third spot providing 339 locations to recharge electric vehicles. Powering Thailand’s electric vehiclesThailand's public electric vehicle charging network must meet the growing demand for an electric vehicle fleet, as the market value of electric vehicles and the number of EV registrations are experiencing a rapid increase. EV Station Pluz is the country's leading charging station for electric vehicles, operated by the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT). Under the "Blue Point" project, they provide charging facilities at their gas stations nationwide. Furthermore, the EV Station PluZ has been extended beyond its exclusive availability at PTT Stations, becoming accessible in numerous shopping malls and urbanized areas. Electric vehicle charging standardIn Thailand, there are two connector types for EV charging: AC chargers and DC chargers. DC charging enables the vehicle to be charged significantly faster than AC charging. The charging duration is an important consideration for electric vehicle owners. According to a survey conducted in 2023, most of the respondents stated that they expected their EV to be charged from empty to 80% in the range of 11 to 40 minutes.
