This dataset relates to 20 interviews collected over 5 months at an East Midlands alternative provision. Interviews were conducted with 14 young people aged 13-16 who were all officially or functionally excluded from school. Interview questions focused on experiences of school and exclusion from school as well as the future plans of the young people. A further three supplementary interviews with staff from the provision were conducted, including two staff who had themselves been excluded from school.
