The Land Use Capacity Charter for agriculture and forestry is a database for assessing the capacity of soils to produce normal crops and forest species over long periods of time, without the occurrence of soil degradation. The classification system provides for eight classes of capacity for use defined according to the type and intensity of limiting soil conditioning both the choice of crops and their productivity. The assignment to the class is made on the basis of the most limiting factor; At the next stage, soils are allocated to subclasses and units of capacity for use.
