In vitro assay of adipogenic activity of some of the selected compounds.

The compounds that bind PPARγ were added to 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes to test their adipogenic capacity, measured as triglyceride accumulation. All the compounds were tested at the non-toxic 100 µM dose. A higher (1000 µM) dose was assayed for those compounds in which it did not exert citotoxic effects. A control of differentiation was performed by inducing cells to differentiate with an hormonal cocktail (insulin, IBMX, dexamethasone) as described in matherials and methods. Data are mean ± SEM of 3–6 biological replicates. # p≤0.01 vs vehicle; * p≤0.05 vs vehicle; all results significantly different (p≤0.01 ) than the control of differentiation.
