Fecal microbial community dynamics in Holstein dairy cows under alpha-linolenic acid diet intervention

This project investigates the impact of different proportions of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) feed on fecal microbiota composition in lactating Holstein cows.Sample Source: On Days 21 of the trial period, fecal samples were collected morning prior to feeding from 10 cows (5 from low proportion ALA diet vs 5 from high proportion ALA diet).Processing: DNA extracted using DNeasy PowerSoil Kit (cat. no. 47014, Qiagen, Hilden, Germany), V3-V4 regions of 16S rRNA gene amplified with primers 338F/806R.Sequencing: Illumina MiSeq PE300 platform, paired-end 300 bp reads.Objective: To identify diet-induced shifts in bacterial taxa and correlate with microbial metabolites and host metabolites.
