Temperate bacterial virus MPV1 infecting Marinitoga piezophila KA3. Phage MPV1

Isolation, sequencing, assembly and annotation of MPV1, a temperate inducible siphovirus (siphophage) infecting the deep sea hydrothermal reference strain Marinitoga piezophila KA3. MPV1 represents the first bacterial virus isolated and characterized among the phylum Thermotogota. It shares its host with a plasmid called pMP1 (initially pMARPI01) that acts as a potential pirate, being preferentially packaged into the viral capsids following MPV1 lytic cycle induction in M. piezophila.
