Heliopolis Project: Area 214

Beschreibung (Deutsch) Diese Datenpublikation dokumentiert das Grabungsareal Area 214 im Sonnentempel von Heliopolis (Matariya, Kairo), ausgegraben im Jahr 2022 im Rahmen des Forschungsprojekts „Eclipse and Mutation: The end of the sun temple of Heliopolis“. Die Ausgrabung wurde von Simon Connor geleitet; die tachymetrischen Aufnahmen erfolgten durch Amelia Zullo. Die technische Dokumentation und Metadatenpflege erfolgten durch Ricarda Gericke, Kay Klinger und Amelia Zullo unter der Datenverantwortung von Florence Langermann. Die Daten sind für die wissenschaftliche Nachnutzung und Überprüfung archäologischer Auswertungen aufbereitet und umfassen: Strukturierte 3D-Dokumentationen (Orthophotos, Kameradaten, Agisoft-Metashape-Projekte) Funde und Keramik mit technischer Zeichnung und Fotografie Punktkoordinaten aus tachymetrischer Vermessung Profil- und Planzeichnungen (Scans) Handschriftliche Dokumentationen der Arbeitsschritte (Units) Verwendete Dateiformate: .txt, .csv, .psx, .jpg, .tif mit eingebetteten EXIF- und XMP-Metadaten. Die Bild- und Strukturaufnahmen folgen einer einheitlichen Benennungssystematik, die mit der internen Grabungsstruktur des Projekts korrespondiert. Alle Bilder und Daten sind so aufbereitet, dass sie auch mit Software außerhalb von Agisoft Metashape weiterverarbeitet werden können. Die Materialien liegen in deutscher und englischer Sprache vor. Die Veröffentlichung erfolgt unter einer CC BY-SA 4.0 Lizenz. Das Projekt wurde von der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) sowie weiteren akademischen und privaten Förderinstitutionen unterstützt. Link Description (English) This dataset documents Area 214 of the Sun Temple of Heliopolis (Matariya, Cairo), excavated in 2022 as part of the research project “Eclipse and Mutation: The end of the sun temple of Heliopolis”. Excavation was directed by Simon Connor, tacheometric measurements were recorded by Amelia Zullo, and metadata was compiled by Ricarda Gericke, Kay Klinger, and Amelia Zullo, with Florence Langermann as data steward. The dataset is prepared to ensure reproducibility and scientific reuse. It contains: Structured 3D documentation (orthophotos, camera data, Agisoft Metashape project files) Photographs and technical drawings of finds and pottery Tacheometric point measurements Scanned profile and plan drawings Handwritten unit sheets documenting excavation steps Data formats include .txt, .csv, .psx, .jpg, and .tif with standardized EXIF and XMP metadata. File and folder names follow the excavation unit system of the project. All required images and parameters are included to allow reuse even without Agisoft Metashape. Materials are provided in German and English. The dataset is published under a CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
