Oxford University Press Presents an Evening of Dances; The Butterfly Dance; Passacaille D'Armide; Aurora's Variation from The Wedding Pas De Deux Act 3 Of The Sleeping Beauty

Performance by various artists in celebration of the publication of the International Encyclopedia of Dance. Recorded at The Joyce Theater on April 13, 1998., Jody Sperling was in possession of tape as she performed "The Butterfly Dance" for the occasion. This piece was co-choreographed with Elizabeth Aldrich and was first performed at The Great Hall of the Library of Congress on October 15, 1997. Music forThe Butterfly Dance was recorded from that event and consists of themes from Grosse Fantasia aus Richard Wagner's "Die Walküre" arranged by Arthur Seidel, orchestrated for brass band by Robert Sheldon. Played by members of The Library of Congress Centennial Cotillion Brass Band, Emerson Head and Robert Sheldon, Leaders.
