Data for: A Volume Penalization Method for Acoustic and Aeroacoustic Simulation of Solid and Porous Bluff Bodies This dataset comprises simulation results generated using the in-house developed CRUNA tool, which solves the compressible Navier-Stokes equations to model fluid dynamics around porous-coated cylinders. The database includes four distinct datasets. These correspond to simulations of a cylinder coated with two different porous materials, each with two coating thicknesses. The simulations employed volume penalization to model the porous materials and were conducted to investigate the aeroacoustic characteristics of these materials at a Reynolds number of 99,000. Each dataset contains microphone data collected from 16 strategically positioned locations around the cylinder. These microphone recordings capture the acoustic pressure fluctuations resulting from the interaction between the fluid flow and the porous coatings. This data is essential for analyzing the noise reduction capabilities and aerodynamic properties of the different materials used in the coatings.
