PRISMA-P checklist for The Effect of Surface Treatments on the Bond Strength of Polyetheretherketone Posts: A Systematic Review protocol

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) has gained widespread use in biomedicine due to its commendable biocompatibility and mechanical characteristics. Initially employed as a provisional abutment for implant-supported restorations, recent studies have delved into its potential for more permanent roles, such as dental posts. This transition necessitates a closer examination of PEEK's adhesive and mechanical properties. However, PEEK's inert nature and intricate chemistry present challenges for surface modifications, resulting in low surface energy and inadequate adhesion. Surface treatments seek to address these challenges by inducing specific physical and chemical alterations to improve adhesion. Despite the exploration of various treatments for PEEK, a standardized protocol remains elusive. The aim of this systematic review protocol is to assess the efficacy of surface treatments for enhancing PEEK as a material for dental posts.
