Japanese netsuke

Netsuke were miniature sculptures invented in the 17th century as toggles for attaching small bags or boxes to a kimono, which traditionally have no pockets. There are two small holes in the back to attach the netsuke via a sash or thread. They were often made of ivory or wood. This netsuke was carved in wood and dipicts a fierce looking warrior.
