Fungal communities in plant roots along a salt-marshes succession

The goal of this research was to identify composition of fungal (mycorrhizal or saprotrophic) communities associated with plant roots along a chronosequence of salt marshes on Atlantic coast of northern Germany. Samples were obtained from pioneer, low marsh and high marsh sites along several spatial gradients and amplicon sequencing was carried out, targeting 18S of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (WANDA-AML2 primers) or fungal ITS.
