NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) is a key core capability in the Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS) Program, providing full and open access to NASA’s collection of Earth science data. The NASA EOSDIS collection acquires, archives, and distributes data from a variety of sources, including remote sensing instruments on satellite and airborne platforms, field campaigns, in situ measurements, and model outputs. NASA's EOSDIS system employs a federated architecture composed of independent components that can be integrated into the system as needed and are broken down into a number of capabilities and services. Note: datasets, related data products, and data services are provided by NASA's Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs), as parts of NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) managed by NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) Project. NASA's data are freely accessible; however, if researchers' choose to publish the provided data and/or works based on the data, NASA requests the datasets be cited within the text of the publication and included as a reference to them in the reference list.
