Model output used for the paper "Climate Implications of the Sun transition to higher activity mode"
We used SOCOL3-MPIOM model with an interactive ocean (Stenke et al., 2013; Muthers et al., 2014), which allows the evaluation of possible implications of the Sun activity switch for the terrestrial climate and ozone layer. It is based on the general circulation model ECHAM5.4 (Roeckner et al., 2003) interacting with the chemistry module MEZON (Egorova et al., 2003; Rozanov et al., 1999) and the MPIOM (Jungclaus et al., 2006; Marsland et al., 2003) for the treatment of the ocean dynamics. We executed our two 90-year-long experiments using T31 truncation providing 3.75x3.75 horizontal resolution and 39 levels in vertical direction covering the atmosphere from the ground to the mesopause at 0.01 hPa (~ 80 km altitude). Both experiments were initialized from a very long time slice spin-up run performed using preindustrial set-ups for all forcings. In the reference run, we prescribed monthly SSI for the year 2000 (solar activity maximum). In the second (experiment) run, we applied monthly SSI for the Sun in transition to a very active state.

本数据集为论文《太阳向更高活动模式过渡的气候影响》所使用的模型输出。我们采用了搭载交互式海洋模块的SOCOL3-MPIOM模型(Stenke等,2013;Muthers等,2014),该模型可用于评估太阳活动跃迁对陆地气候与臭氧层的潜在影响。该模型以通用环流模型ECHAM5.4(Roeckner等,2003)为基础,耦合化学模块MEZON(Egorova等,2003;Rozanov等,1999)与用于处理海洋动力过程的MPIOM模型(Jungclaus等,2006;Marsland等,2003)。我们采用T31截断方案开展了两组时长均为90年的试验,该方案的水平分辨率为3.75×3.75,垂直方向共39层,覆盖从地表到0.01 hPa(约80千米高度)的中间层顶大气区域。两组试验均基于采用全强迫因子工业化前配置完成的长时间自旋启动运行结果进行初始化。在对照试验中,我们采用2000年(太阳活动极大年)的逐月太阳光谱辐照度(Solar Spectral Irradiance,简称SSI)作为强迫数据;在第二组(试验)运行中,我们采用太阳向极高活动状态过渡时期的逐月SSI作为强迫数据。对照试验的文件以p100m100作为标识,试验组的文件则以p100m101作为标识。
