This layer depicts the location of ambulance service providers that serve the state of Vermont. The following fields provide additional information for each service provider (NOTE: this information is not available for providers outside the State of Vermont): Service Name – Service provider name Certification Level – Certification level of service provider Full Address – Service provider full address Street 1 – Service provider primary street address Street 2 – Service provider secondary street address City – Service provider town/city State – Service provider state Zip Code – Service provider zip code Total Transports – Total transports completed by service provider Percent No Transports – Percentage of calls that didn’t result in ambulance transport to a medical facility. Calculated from 911 volume. Average Reimbursement Per Transports – Average reimbursement (in U.S. dollars) per transport from all payers. Municipal Cost Per Person – Cost (in U.S. dollars) per person in each town within the service provider coverage area. Calculated based on town contributions to ambulance service. Cost Per Call – Cost (in U.S. dollars) per call. Coverage Area Town (1-17): Indicates the town/city covered by the service provider. In towns with overlapping services, coverage area was assigned to the provider with the largest geographic area or servicing the greatest number of residents. Disclaimer: While efforts were made to verify data with service leaders, some information had to be estimated due to unavailable records. Cost calculations for services operating mixed business lines—such as fire departments providing both fire suppression and EMS—used a proportional allocation formula in which total organizational expenses were divided by the ratio of ground ambulance volume to total service volume.
