Five bulk soil samples from the Anton Scarp and Cheyenne Plains Pipeline Trenches in
eastern Colorado were submitted for particle size determination and were floated to recover
organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. These samples were recovered from
organic-rich silt representing modem or buried A soil horizons. Because these samples did not
contain sufficient charred organic material for radiocarbon dating, dates were obtained on
humates extracted from the soil.
从科罗拉多州东部的安东断崖(Anton Scarp)与夏延平原管道沟槽(Cheyenne Plains Pipeline Trenches)采集的5份混合土壤样品,被送检以开展粒度测定,并通过浮选法回收适用于放射性碳分析(radiocarbon analysis)的有机碎屑。上述样品采自富含有机质的粉砂层,对应现代或埋藏型A层土壤发生层。由于该批样品未含有足量炭化有机物质以开展放射性碳定年(radiocarbon dating),最终通过提取土壤中的腐殖酸盐(humates)获取了定年数据。
