Rhodes (GR), acquired in 1943 from coll. v. GaertringenMarble, 3rd/2nd century BC The relief, signed by the sculptor Damatrios, formed part of the tomb of Hieronymus of Tlos (mentioned in inscription), a Rhodian philosopher of Aristotle's school. The left part of the frieze represents the deceased as a disputing philosopher, while the right displays a depiction of the afterlife, extremely rare in Greek art. This object is part of Scan The World. Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free.
