In 2009, RECOVER standardized the method used to monitor SAV across all of the Northern Estuaries. The standardized method is referred to as the quadrat method. SAV species presence/absence, percent cover and canopy height was collected bi-monthly at 15 sites within the Southern Indian River Lagoon, St. Lucie Estuary, and Lake Worth Lagoon from December 2008 to October 2009 by Malcolm Pirnie. Water quality and clarity information was also collected. Due to funding constraints, the contract was terminated. The USACE is now funding the work using a different contractor.
