Corn Leaf Coil, Accession AZRU-00008, Catalog #2878. Morris FS 5349. Analyzed by Laurie Webster, 2006. Coil of corn leaves wrapped crosswise with yucca strips tied in square knots. Measurements: D 17.0 (ext), 8.0 (int) CM. Image: AZRU8-2878 A: coil of corn leaves wrapped crosswise with yucca strips. Recovered from Earl Morris' excavation of Room 181, Aztec West Ruin. Morris described Room 181 as having a “considerable deposit of refuse…[continuing] well above the level of the third story…[Of the items found in the refuse deposits in the room] only two of the specimens are of special interest. One is a bird effigy of which the head was not found, the only one of its kind the writer has observed among later wares. The other, is the top of another bird effigy with head, wings, and tail in relief, and a T-shaped hole in the back…In the debris above the refuse was charcoal from a burned ceiling, presumably the third.” (Morris 1928:373)

莫里斯将181号房间描述为："存有大量废弃物堆积层……堆积层一直延伸至第三层楼面以上……在该房间废弃物堆积层中出土的器物里，仅有两件标本具有特殊研究价值。其一为一件鸟形雕像（bird effigy），未发现头部，为笔者在后期出土器物中所见的同类孤例。其二为另一件鸟形雕像的残件顶部，带有浮雕成型的头部、翅膀与尾部，背部带有T形孔洞……在废弃物堆积层上方的碎屑中，发现了被焚毁的天花板残留木炭，推测为第三层楼面的天花板。"（莫里斯，1928：373）
