Himalaya region
The Himalaya is delineated using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). The southern boundary is marked by the 375-meter contour line (that limits the northern plains from The Shivalik Range) while prominent geographical features such as the Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) in the Trans-Himalayas, the Tsang Po River, and the Indus River define the northern extent. The eastern boundary is set by manual digitisation of the Brahmaputra River Valley, and the western boundary by the Indus River Valley.
