Whole-genome resequencing of Paraconiothyrium fuckelii

The study aims to conduct whole-genome resequencing of Paraconiothyrium fuckelii, a fungus isolated from an industrial wasteland in Vieux-Charmont, France, by the Chrono-environment laboratory at the University of Franche-Comte. This research, part of the EU HORIZON-BIOSYSMO project, seeks to explore the genetic basis of the fungus's remarkable metal tolerance. By analyzing the entire genome, researchers hope to uncover specific genes and pathways that confer resistance to heavy metals, potentially offering insights into bioremediation strategies and contributing to environmental sustainability efforts. The findings could pave the way for novel applications in managing industrial pollution and rehabilitating contaminated sites.
